If you are trying to sell your house or simply hosting a party, taking the time to properly stage your home can make a huge difference. Some real estate professionals suggest the following tips to make your home more welcoming. When it comes to selling your home, it is important that the potential buyers can visualize themselves there. If you have every nook and cranny filled to the brim, the overall feeling is anything but relaxed. Here are some easy changes you can make for cleaning and organizing your space:

De-clutter

Remove piles of mail, pieces of paper, stacks of books and anything else that is taking up counter or desk space. Be sure to pay special attention to closets and under the kitchen and bathroom sinks if you are going to be having potential buyers poking about.

Burn Vanilla

You could use a vanilla scented candle, but for maximum sweetness to create a warm and inviting ambiance, simply place a capful of vanilla into a few cups of water and allow to simmer on the stove. This scent is associated with delicious baking and a comforting atmosphere. It is a bit more universal than Lavender oil or incense, which may irritate some individuals.

Use Fresh-Cut Flowers

Bring in some live plants or flowering plants such as a Poinsettia to welcome the season. Breathe some life into your space with living greenery. Avoid dusty, artificial flowers and plants.

Streamline Furniture

Keep things simple, elegant and open. This allows for more room for people to meander and mingle. When numerous people are trying to share space and they feel crowded, the only thing they will be thinking about is when they can leave.

Nibbles

Having a plate of nibbles out on the counter is a great way to create an inviting atmosphere. Keep it simple with fresh fruit, crackers and cheese, assorted nuts or cookies.
