Saving Your Favorite Pot

The Maids • Apr 18, 2014

Unless you have been able to invest in non-stick pots and pans, you will have first-hand experience in what it is like having food burnt to the bottom of your favorite pot. As frustrating as it is, there are a few methods that will make resolving that problem, a breeze.

The first method is the one that will cause tremendous damage to your favorite pot and that is by scraping it with a sharp object. This will obviously damage your pot and is only recommended if you are trying to convince your partner that you need a new favorite pot.

Another method would be to soak your favorite pot in hot water and wait for the food that is stuck to it to get soft and then just scrape it off with a plastic spatula. Using a spatula made of plastic is essential to preventing you from scratching the bottom of your pot. This will cause your next cooking experience to result in more food being stuck to the bottom of your favorite pot.

The best method, which is one that I highly recommend, will not take as long as soaking your pot and is guaranteed to not cause any damage to your pot. This entails taking a plastic utensil to remove as much of the food that is burnt or stuck to the bottom of your pot. The next step is to put some high-powered dish-washing liquid into the pot along with enough water to generously cover the food. Put the pot onto the stove and let the water simmer for about 10 minutes.

This will cause the stuck or burnt food to loosen up from the bottom of the pot. This makes it easier to scrape off with a plastic spatula. This method causes no damage whatsoever to your favorite pot, leaving it in the same condition as it was before the disaster and ready for the next time you need to cook again.
